Abstract: The Committee on Forestry (COFO) is FAO’s highest global intergovernmental body on forestry, guiding the Organization’s work and fostering international collaboration, policy dialogue and technical guidance on forest-related issues. The 28th Session of COFO will be held from 28 September to 2 October 2026 at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. COFO brings together 125 Members and meets every two years, convening ministers, heads of forest services, senior government officials and partner organizations. Its sessions identify emerging challenges, promote innovative approaches and provide strategic direction for FAO’s forestry programme. COFO reports to the FAO Council on programme and budget matters and to the FAO Conference on policy and regulatory issues.

Abstract: Building on the success of the three previous gatherings, our 2026 program will bring together First Nations experts, leadership, Elders, youth, women, 2SLGBTQQIA+, and other experts to share knowledge and to discuss and emphasize the solutions First Nations are advancing on the local, regional, national, and international stages in the face of rapid change. These multi-dimensional, interconnected, and interrelated solutions enable the connection between a healthy environment and everything else: our health, well-being, culture, language, water, food security, housing, and many others. Shifting to the implementation of the AFN National Climate Strategy and Climate Lens, the 2026 Gathering will showcase First Nations’ stewardship approaches to climate action and conservation through a diverse range of panel presentations, workshops, video screenings, and other activities. See all resource collectionsAfter Action Reports (or After Action Reviews or Post-Incident Assessments) are season-encompassing projects that tell the story of a particular year in wildfire for a specific jurisdiction, usually Provincial or Territorial. They tend to be procured after an impactful wildfire season to explore what happened, how people experienced the season, and what can be done differently in the future. These reports can also discuss specific topics, wildfires, or timelines.
There is extensive live wildfire data from across Canada. The external resources in this collection will help users find relevant up-to-date information from trusted places and develop a greater understanding of the extent of wildfire activity in Canada. It does not include live evacuation information or live status updates from individual wildfires, except where provided by the resources themselves.
The guides, fact sheets, and other resources in this collection will help equip homeowners and community members with knowledge needed to implement wildfire resilience actions on their property. They are especially useful for users who are newer to wildfire or unsure where to start. We recognize that a whole-of-society approach to wildfire includes local populations being empowered with access to best practices for resilience.
