Wildland Urban Interface Fire Safety in Canadian Indigenous Communities

The National Indigenous Fire Safety Council is training 420 youth wildland firefighters in Indigenous communities across Canada, and scaling up a Community Wildfire Protection Planning project. This presentation was featured as a short “lightning talk” at the 2025 WRCC Building Foundational Knowledge Gathering, where recipients of Wildfire Resilient Futures Initiative (WRFI) funding from Natural Resources Canada shared key takeaways of their projects and demonstrated how their work is contributing to a more wildfire resilient future.
