Métis Wildfire Community Research Initiative

Archival researchers are uncovering a history of how Métis and non-status Indigenous people have historically interacted with fire. This presentation was featured as a short “lightning talk” at the 2025 WRCC Building Foundational Knowledge Gathering, where recipients of Wildfire Resilient Futures Initiative (WRFI) funding from Natural Resources Canada shared key takeaways of their projects and demonstrated how their work is contributing to a more wildfire resilient future.
